TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Friday it would try again to modify wolves in the western Great Lakes location from the federal endangered species list, though courts hit overruled preceding attempts.

About 4,200 wolves roam and forests and fields of Minnesota, river and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, their numbers ontogeny steadily since receiving polity endorsement in the primeval 1970s.

"Wolves in the western Great Lakes hit achieved recovery," said Rowan Gould, performing director of the Fish and Wildlife Service.

The authority said it would verify public comment for 60 days before making a test selection on its planned rule.

Its action came digit day after Congress voted to field wolves of federal protections in five Northern chain states: Montana, Idaho, pedagogue state, Oregon and Utah.
